Well the title describes a number of Ss: Shirt, Skirt, Sewing and shopping! As it has been a while this could be quite a long one....
Starting from last weekend, one of my best friends had a birthday party on Saturday and due to my families trip to Yorkshire, I was staying with a friend. After a fun day of present shopping and singing Joseph songs, the evening came and we set about straightening hair, reconsidering outfits and applying copious amounts of eye makeup (in my case anyway). Anyway I snapped a quick photo of my stylish friend Stan who was wearing an awesome River Island Skirt with a lace backed top we had bought that very morning.

The evening was really good and involved quite a lot of cake eating ( I know for a fact that there is still left over cake and it was over a week ago now!)

Fast forwarding to Wednesday, I got going on clothes to sell at my Clothes Swap and found some old material from the 60s or 70s which my grandma gave me. As there was only about a metre and a half, i was quite limited but made a skirt:

Today, me and Susie finally went shopping and I was very very restrained, only getting a shirt, skirt and ordering a pair of shoes! Oh and I popped into Fabricland to stock up on fabric.

Aftermath

Thats it- exams over- finito. No complaints there! So now I can blog as I please without having to slam my laptop screen down and rummage around for a textbook every time I hear someone coming up the stairs. As my first act as a free girl, I got down to work on a boring tuxedo jacket I found in the Primark sales. Firstly i removed the ghastly lacy brooch it came with and detached the sleeves to make it an oh-so-on-trend sleeveless jacket. I had a look through my button box and threw them on for some light embellishment and discovered, rather shockingly that my dad was a scout and therefore had a vast collection of scout badges from the 70s or whenever he grew up. I only used a select few as there was a number of rather weird ones. And thats the story of my sleeveless jacket! I am hitting Fabric Land tomorrow to restock and get making again! I have a month of reclusiveness to make up for so I'm off to stay with one of my best friends (and models in earlier posts), Stan this weekend. Am so happy to be able to leave the house without the thought of "I should be revising" hanging over me. So thats it for now! Happy partying!

Desperation!

I desperately need a good shopping trip! The fact that my dear mother has pretty much chained me to my desk has hindered my shopping abilities! Me and my friend Susie are planning a serious day in London, to get rid of all that Christmas money that is weighing down my purse: Oxford Street, Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane.. the lot. So in anticipation (and extreme procrastination of aforementioned exams) I have compiled a wish list! :


I reallly really want a sheer shirt thos season- not necessarily black though!

Susie actually has this top but she bought it a few sizes too big so she can wear it as a dress- Its so nice!

I have this jumper from a few seasons ago but plain blue, which is nice but sometimes a print can change the mood of an outfit- I love the dusty pink colour as well. It would be perfect for wearing in Yorkshire (where I go often)

I love these so much- but i think would look better with different buttons.

I have a pair of these in whitish pink linin but they aren't much good for winter.

Also on the list are a pair of navy wedges in primark that I saw in vogue (I know- I was surprised too) and I will be serching for hopefully some leather shorts and silk scarfs (you can never have enough-they are so useful!). Anyway fingers crossed!

Dungarees!!

Ok only a very very quick one- I go the dungarees!! They are decidedly my new favourite wardrobe piece and I love love love them!!!

Exams

I know these are only mock exams but I dont think I have ever been this tired in my life! Instead of boring you with details about GCSEs which I dont want to write and you dont want to read, I will get on to the silver lining of exams: Study Leave. With exams finishing at midday for me so far, I have been able to drink probably more Starbucks than is healthy, unintentionally spending money in charity shops and playing a truly embarrassing amount of "Lego Harry Potter" on the Wii. On one of my outings to Topshop I saw a really nice pair of denim dungarees. Now Ill be honest, dungarees can go either way- farmer or casual. Its a slim balance so instead of buying immediatily and not knowing what to do with them, Ive decided to show some restraint and wait until tomorrow. But it did get me thinking- if Im going to buy them I need to know how to wear them without looking like Im about to jump on my tractor.



When doing my standard procedure Style.com check up, I saw that dungarees were actually a trend this season and the likes of Ralph Lauren (image) and Jean Paul Gautier were sending them down the runway. What decided the buy for me was the mix with the sheer, girly blouse in Ralph Lauren- one of my favourite looks- mixing boyish and girly.

Moving on from the denim dungarees that will be stuck in my head until I get round to buying them, Another purchase I made was at my favourite local charity shop, The Children's Society. Every time I go in, I seem to come out with a significantly lighter purse... but I bought a very simple rose pink shift dress with big layered sleeves. When I found that it fitted me perfectly it put me in a very happy mood for the rest of the day, I even took the realization of a maths exam on Monday will relative grace! For once I dont need to alter or customize the dress because I think the simplicity works.

After exams, I think it could be time to ruthlessly sort out my wardrobe- a task that I dread in all its time consuming glory. The moment when you have just finished and you are looking at the wardrobe, now looking desolate and plain as apposed to its former glory pains me. But it must be done. My cousin would never forgive me if she didn't get her share of my wardrobe rejects! Okay. I really do need to get back to Maths revision, as painful as it is.

HAppy New Year!

Well its been a great christmas because I got a new camera!!! Its a Lumix G2 and its so good! my whole family are annoyed with me though because i keep taking photos of them, their outfits and me and my outfits... Another excitement was my subscription to Vogue (hoping for Elle next..) so as you can imagine, I took a slightly too long break from GCSE revision to read the February issue! I spent the holiday in Yorkshire naturally and it was SO cold there! The all time low was -14. Not good. As much as I dislike my winter puffa jacket, it seemed quite necessary!  As mentioned above I am actually meant to be revising but I will give a run down of my best bits of the new fashion season which I satndardly am pretty excited about and post some photos because it wont work right now... grrr i hate technology...
