No time!

Not gunna lie, I had no time to make a dress and no money to buy material so it didnt happen however i managed to pull together an appropriate outfit at the last minute so it all worked out.The Shirt was from primark, the skirt from topshop and shoes (not shown) kurt geiger. The confirmation was a lovely ceremony and generally a nice day. If I thought I was busy before, i was wrong. The word busy has taken a new meaning so nothing else from me today!

Shocked

I shocked myself by managing to give my blog a few more personal touches- anyone who knows me will realise how impressive this is due to the fact that I am slightly technologically challenged... Another shocker is all this snow! Ill be honest, I hate snow but I must admit, it is kinda beautiful. Anyway turns out outfit I had for Sunday's confirmation is so not going to work with ice! So I am now on a search for a WARM and sufficiently stylish outfit. Naturally, I drew up a few designs and I would, in an ideal world make a long sleeved shirt dress (see Valentino [above], Marc Jacobs, Thakoon, Iceberg). I only have a day though and no material at the moment so I wouldnt hold your breath for a creation!... but i will keep you posted on developments...

Im Back!

Yeah back sooner than anticipated! it would seem that in the space of this afternoon, I have sorted out half my problems; bought some christmas presents (boot's 3 for 2 is my saviour) and managed to find a simple black dress in a charity shop and a cardigan all less than a tenner to wear to the confirmation! ovbiously I did a bit of work on the dress so that it wasnt so boring but here it is

Broke

It would seem that Christmas has crept up on me slightly and I had a slight realization that i have to go and buy presents! Also, ENGLISH MOCK ON WEDNESDAY! where exactly has this year gone?? Problem is, I have no money so how the whole crimbo present shabang is going to work i dont know. To top it off, I have the confirmation of one of my friends on the 5th and i have nada to wear. life is not good at the moment! However on the plus side, the party season has made me so excited that i have found the top five party dresses for the christmas season:

Apologies

So sorry its been such a long time! I have been very busy with Mock exams coming up! Said art project going well- very time consuming but i have the dress finished along with several other drawn etc pieces. Happy to have this out of the way. Due to an increasingly winter atmosphere/temperature around, i treated myself to a £16 scarf in topshop- much more than i would usually spend but it is freezing outside! I cant help but feel smug when im waiting for the bus in my huge oversized knitted scarf and other people are shivering away. What can I say- i love it! Another knitwear buy was another oversized one- a grey cardigan, also topshop but very thick and cozy. During the holidays went with my family to Morocco- I really loved it- Marrakech is beautiful as are the atlas mountains. Took the opportunity to buy some harem trousers- something i have been meaning to do for a while and it turns out they are the comfiest this ever! and perfect for the heat of Morocco. OK my english coursework calls so will write again soon as! Oh and also posted are the results of my efforts with the art- the photoshoot- my creation modelled by one of my close friends, Stan. Very pleased with the photos!

Art Project

So out of nowhere, I have been set the most ridiculously long winded art project which is supposed to be completed by sometime in the near future! In a state of frenzy, I set to work trying to find an artist who uses beautiful gowns ( as it is best with this kind of project to play to your strengths) and found John William Waterhouse who was a pre raefelite painter who did scenes of myths and ledgands. I liked him when i was younger so the fact that i found a painter who i really like has made the whole project much less daunting anyway the point is, I had the idea to try and recreate one of the dresses in the paintings and after much browsing, found one of his pictures of Ophelia (from Hamlet, a bit crazy, drowns herself) and am planning to make the dress! Im surprisingly excited but am desperatly trying to find a model for the photograph... anyway ill keep you posted with photos!

London Fashion Weekend

Have just returned from an amazing day at London Fashion Weekend with my dad (!) at somerset house. Yes i must say that when my dad announced that he wanted to take me, I felt slightly suicidal due to the fact that i could predict that after 5 minutes he would announce that it was terrible and make us leave. However, he patiently sat through the catwalk show after cuing for half an hour in order to get front row seats (which we did) with Zara Martin (Who??) and saw the looks "Nomad" which was 'layers, layers and more layers' as seen at Galliano and Jean- Paul Gaultier, "Kramer vs. Kramer" which can be summed up with one words. Camel. Next seasons trend obsession which has taken to the catwalk like a storm. The look is a 1970s housewife chic and oozes elegance and power. A Singapore born designer called Ashley Isham showed a stunning collection of flowing evening gowns to clear plastic macs which have been worn by the likes of Lady Gaga. The final collection was that of BodyAmr whose collection contained a truly beautiful maroony red dress which captured the show. Although my dad might have dozed off somewhere during BodyAmr, his effort was to be commended and things were certainly looking up. Somerset house is a beautiful large venue but there was no avoiding the crowds of eager bargain hunters swarming round hundreds of clothes rails and although i found a beautiful sheep skin aviator jacket and some beautiful jewelry, i was unable to make any purchases due to my just to low budget. The show bags which, over the few years I have been attending the show have got gradually better and compared to my notebook and pen from 3 years ago, I had a free bottle of Juicy couture perfume, Elizabeth Arden product and a vast selection of other things! Over the day i accumulated 8 boxes of Special K, it being a sponsor and free boxes being given out at every opportunity! It did make me think however how much I would like to be at London Fashion Week someday...All the same, the clothes were insiring and well made. Eventually, after 4 hours of hardcore shopping, we braved Waterloo bridge in the rain and made it to the station without getting too soaked. Im not sure he will be so up for it next time but its the thought that counts!As fashion goes I have also had a very productive week, buying a pair of military boots from river island that i have been saving up for and finally got on thursday for £64.99- worth every penny as they are surprisingly very comfy. Due to a bad cold, I took Wednesday off from school and in a bout of inspiration made a small floral dress out of the upstairs curtains which I showcased on Friday as it was mufti day.To add to that i recently purchased a coat in topshop which is well well adapted to the rubbish weather we have been having.... I hope to start blogging a bit more- this year has been very very busy with GCSEs coming up at the end of the year, the workload has shot up and will only get worse! Also felt the need to change the title of the blog, mainly out of boredom but i think its a bit funner!
